MSN’s home page today shows links leading to Bing search results have increased of late. According to report shown, Bing was provided a sum of less than 40 percent of the links on their homepage. Despite of the rising of revenue said by Microsoft, still there are anonymous executives who are not happy.
It is said that Bing is sucking the life out of MSN in which it is something Microsoft have to decide on the corporate level. As a respond, Adam Sohn, the senior director of Microsoft said that Microsoft is investing more than ever in the success of its online services. Content and partnership are the main part of the strategy and as is a healthy and growing search business.
Over the last year, there’s a fast check of compete reveals that Bing has checked much more development, increasing from 38.8 million in December 2009 to 79.8 million in December 2010. MSN also grew from 70.5 million unique visitors to 74.6 million during the same period of time. It only concludes that MSN does not seem to really be suffering all that much traffic-wise due to Bing. On the other hand, Bing is also gaining more search market share in behalf of MSN’s push.
In December, Bing search share increased again from 11.8 percent to 12 percent. It serves 28 percent of U.S. searches per month or 4.6 billion searches as combined with Yahoo search. It has a higher success rate than Google searches with 5 percent increase in the same month. It is indeed no doubt that December has been a great achievement for Bing and Yahoo! Search in which 81 percent of searches executed resulted in a visit to a Website. To ensure that searchers are finding the information they are seeking, the share of unsuccessful searches highlighted the opportunity for search engines, professional SEOs and marketers in evaluating the search engine result pages.
For now, Bing’s greatest goal should be to convince Google users to switch search engines.
