A few weeks after a new way of searching which makes searching more interactive and helps you find information in the least possible time, aptly called Google Instant, it is now ready to take on Australia.
This latest innovation from Google, the Google Instant, has three core features which include dynamic results, ‘scroll-to-search functionality, and Autocomplete predictions. All these are intended to deliver smart and predictive results as you type your keywords.
Months after the initial launch of Google Instant, it has been extended to Google Books, Videos, Blogs ans Updates. Google has also launched keyboard shortcuts to aide searchers in navigating through the search results. There have also been results from observations about how people use Google Instant and some of these are that people are beginning to adjust to it. There have been lesser number of searchers hitting the enter key or clicking search in searching. This shows that people are beginning to get used to Instant.
A more interactive way of searching has also been observed. An estimate of 7% increase in on-the-fly editing of search queries also indicates that searchers are inspired by the search results shown by Instant. These search results have people editing their search terms. Google Instant is not just aimed to save time but to provide a more fluid way of searching as well.
It has also been indicated in the observations done that people are making an extra effort to use Google Instant. A week after it was launched, an increase in the relative number of search sessions have started in the Google homepage, indicating that people want to use Google Instant. Google Instant is currently limited to working on the Google homepage and result page and no other places like the browser search boxes, the Google Toolbar, and the Chrome Omnibox. When people knew about Google Instant, an increase of the number of searchers searching more on the homepage shows that more and more want to use Instant.
