December 28, 2011 – Great news for search engine optimization experts!
Google has just recently announced via Twitter that there will be no more Panda updates for the remainder of the year.
Google has tweeted that it will not release any more new major Panda updates until after the holidays.
The last known Panda update happened nearly almost a month ago, which was named as 3.1 and took place on November 18th. Since then, there were only some rumors of updates and fluxes that have come out, though nothing was confirmed by Google.
Some discussion occurred in WebmasterWorld about the possibility of Google taking a break on Panda for the holidays.
Barry Schwartz over at SearchEngineRoundtable has picked up on this disucssion as well, noting that “Google probably doesn’t want a repeat of the whole Florida udpate fiasco, where online retailers kind of got the shaft due to an unexpected algorithm change years ago.”
Obviously, in more recent years, Google has been observed to be pretty open about their not wanting to do that to sites. They even recently expressed their goal to be more transparent about their algorithm updates in general.
Is there a Minor Google Panda Update?
Meanwhile, there are some discussion and chatter at WebmasterWorld around a possible Panda update that is said to have been started on December 19th.
A discussion occurred around the shifting of the search results and a top SEO at WebmasterWorld stating that “I wonder whether there has been a “Minor Panda update” since Dec 19, 2011.” There were many who agree with him.
If that is the case then, the Panda updates would now be up to version 3.2.

- Panda Update 2.5.3 – October 19/20th
- Panda Update 2.5.2 – October 13th
- Panda Update 2.5.1 – October 9th
- Panda Update 2.5 – September 28th
- Panda Update 2.4 – August
- Panda Update 2.3 – around July 22nd.
- Panda Update 2.2 – June 18th or so.
- Panda 2.1 on May 9th or so.
- Panda 2.0 on April 11th or so.
- Panda 1.0 on February 24th
