September 19, 2012 – Google has recently tweaked its search algorithm to improve domain diversity.

Just recently, chatter has abounded among professional SEOs and webmasters, talking about Google rolling out a new type of algorithm update that is said to have an impact on rankings.

Now it’s finally confirmed by Google via a tweet. There was an update for diversification of the search results.

According to the head of Google’s webspam fighting team and Distinguished Engineer Matt Cutts’ tweet, an algorithm update was recently rolled out by Google, which is said to have affected the diversity of search results.

This new change is said to mean to allow more domains to appear in search results.

Lately, there have been more and more people complaining of noting that Google’s search results to be sometimes dominated by a lot of search results that all come from the same domain for a lot of queries. In other words, when you do a search in Google search, you will see that all the listings seem to come from the same web site.

Presumably, with the newly rolled out small algorithm change, these will be better now, and users will now be able to get a more diverse set of results or a more variety in web sites being shown in a search in more cases.

Meanwhile, talks about a new Panda update has also taken rounds among webmasters and SEO experts recently as Google’s big list of algorithm changes for the month of August is due out any time now, although, there’s no announcement heard from Google yet.

To date, there are now 20 Panda Updates, with the latest being the Google Panda Version 3.9.1 Update which was rolled out last August 20th after the previous Panda update version 3.9 struck in late July, specifically on July 24th, since the first Google Panda update went live in February 24, 2011.
