January 12, 2012 - Google has just Personalized Search, revealing a change as significant as Universal Search in 2007.
Just this week, Google announced that it is bringing in some new elements in its Google Search, making it richer, more social, and more personalized. Google has officially rolled out three new features for its search engine namely “Personal Results”, “Profiles in Search”, and “Related People and Pages”. These new features seamlessly blend together creating the powerful “Search Plus Your World“.
Google Search has always been about providing the best results for its users. Though Google has been doing personalized search to some extent for quite a while providing a universe of webpages created publicly, mostly by people you’ve never met, Google is now changing by bringing your world rich with people and information into search.
Now, Google Search is being transformed into a search engine that has a better understanding not only of content, but also of people and relationships.
Google Search is now incorporated with the three new features namely:
- Profiles in Search - where Google will not only show people you are friends with but will also show people it thinks you would be interested in;
- Personal Results – which will allow you to find information personalized just for you, that only you will be able to see on your results page; and
- People and Pages - which will assist you in finding people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, as well as allow you to follow them with just a few clicks.
In terms of Profiles displaying in search, Google has demonstrated to users and search engine optimization service providers why it’s beneficial to be active on Google+ and develop a substantial following.
However, Search plus Your World has made it a difficult job for professional SEO as tracking SEO progress has become more difficult since rankings are becoming less and less of a reliable performance indicator.
