July 6, 2011 – After Google released its +1 buttons to Google search globally and then announced the start of the Google+ project, Google once again announced that it has released 3 reports that show the value of +1 buttons and what they will bring to a website.
First is the +1 metric will tell search engine optimization experts and website owners how much traffic value the +1 button is bringing to their site and this will be shown in 3 reports namely:
- The Search Impact report
This will provide you an idea of how +1‘s affect your organic search traffic. It will also tell if your clickthrough rate changes when personalized recommendations help your content stand out by comparing clicks and impressions on search results with and without +1 annotations.
A statistics on clickthrough rate changes is also shown when your website has enough impressions for a meaningful comparison.
- The Activity Report
This will show you how many times your pages have been +1’d, from buttons both on your site and on other pages (such as Google search).
- The Audience Report
This report will show you aggregate geographic and demographic information about the Google users who’ve +1’d your pages. Google will only show audience information when a significant number of users have +1’d pages from your website in order to protect privacy.
Second, website owners as well as SEO companies can see the +1 Metrics menu found on the side of the page to view their reports.
Finally, website owners can also track how users share their content using other buttons besides +1 by using Social Plugin Tracking in Google Analytics. You need to configure your JavaScript for Analytics. Once configured, the Social Engagement reports help you in comparing the various types of sharing actions that happens on your pages.
Google Webmaster Tools have announced that +1 metrics can now be acquired directly in your Google Webmaster Tools account.
