To usher advertisers and publishers to its new display advertising product, Google today launched in Australia “Watch this space campaign”. Said to be the biggest and the first campaign ever promoted by Google in the country, the display advertising product hopes to encourage new advertisers and increase the spend at the same time by educating them about the products.
As part of the perks of using Google Display Network, the company gives profits to publishers as dictated by the cost per mile or the cost per click. As was the custom in other Google search products, advertisers undergo bidding for their advertisements to appear in online sites.
Gearing towards convincing other FMCGs and other online advertisers by bringing them awareness of the importance of brand advertising online, the campaign is considered the first step in achieving this goal. Based on figures provided by Google, 17 from the top 20 paying advertisers are utilizing the Google Display Network for the advertisement of their products but the company is aiming to increase this number.
For the said purpose, Google is on the lookout for a dynamic person who will be capable in bringing into fruition the company’s goals. Educating the publishers and advertisers is really an essential step and finding the right person for the job is primary for Google.
Shailesh Rao, head of media and platforms for Google Asia Pacific, stated that the campaign is a tool in reaching out to the people for them to easier understand their product.
The said ad campaign, prepared by Google Creative Lab in New York and localized by Sputnik, includes online, print, DM, and outdoor. PHD, a media agency, handled the campaign strategy and buying.
