August 8, 2012 – Webmasters and search engine optimization experts can now keep track of their site’s daily ranking fluctuations due to Google’s tweak of its algorithm via the help of MozCast.
Dr. Pete at SEOmoz had just recently announced the rolling out of a new tool that is designed at providing insights if Google has run a major search index/algorithm update in the past.
A new neat service called MozCast, this is essentially a Google automated weather report that:
- shows the daily fluctuations at Google in weather report style
- cleverly keeps track of about 1,000 selected keywords every 24 hours and monitors fluctuations in the top ten sites ranking for those phrases. Then, the rate of change in Delta10s is then calculated by MozCast before compiling a kind of weather report
- This report is also said to be updated daily for the previous day around 7:30am Pacific.
- webmasters also are provided a choice of a 5 day or 30 weather reports; thus, putting their minds at ease when algorithmic changes affect sites on a larger scale.
So, based on the fluctuations in the Google search results from the previous day, you will see literally a weather report, showing a temperature and weather symbol that will indicate stormier and hotter weather.
As rankings in all actuality change frequently, this latest tool can then provide SEOs and webmasters a better indication of whether or not their sites have been negatively impacted by algorithmic changes or whether there is a need for them to take a closer look at their sites.
With the identification of the significant shifts in the algorithm, SEOs are now better equipped in discovering the underlying issues with their site and thus be able to make the necessary changes to stay on top in the Google search results.
