As one of the leading search engines on the web now, Google continues to work on making improvements to their services. The previous months have borne witness to the search engine’s genius as it launched new programs that will help people and businesses get what they want. Recently, Google has yet again to prove itself.

Google Boost has been made available for local businesses in San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago. Google Boost is a beta AdWords program which auto-generates search ads and make them appear in Google’s sponsored links section and Google Maps search results.

As an addition to the basic information like the company name, address, phone number, and website, Google Boost ads is also able to include the number of reviews received by the business, the average star rating, and the link to your Google Places page. In addition, a blue pin will able to help the business stand out from the other red pins when a map appears in the result page.

In creating an ad, you will be needing a brief business description, a web or Places page, your business categories, and a budget every month. Google’s system will automatically set up your ad campaign and will determine the important keywords that will set off your ad for it to appear in Google and Google Maps.

Payments will only be made when someone clicks on your ad. Google Places dashboard displays basic ad and performance data so you can access them.

Notes from Google state:

  • The business has the option to change the wording for the ad but Google automatically extracts them from the 200 character description.
  • Only those which are in Google’s category list, and not the custom categories, will be shown by the ad.
  • Market and categories selected will determine the estimated clicks per month.

  • A minimum of $50 per month is needed for the program to start.

  • Only the business name found in Places will be allowed for the ad title.

  • Other formats will be made available.
