September 28, 2011 – World’s most popular social networking website, Facebook, introduces Timeline: ‘a new way to express who you are at the recently held annual F8 developer conference.
Facebook has once again revamped its profile and recently introduces a radical new profile design dubbed ‘Timeline: The story of your life’.
Just as what the pretty name implies, the name pretty much sums it up: a timeline of your entire life, available to be viewed on your Facebook profile.
Timeline: The Story of your Life
Facebook’s newest profile layout is meant to be a central hub for your stories, apps, and a means for you to express who you are, utilizing a chronological timeline to highlight the most important content you share on Facebook — for the new Timeline provides a realtime stream of everything you’ve done, all the way back to your ‘birth’.
According to Mark Zuckerberg, the new Timeline is a way to “share the story of your life on a single page,” … “We want to design a place that feels like your home. Where you tell story online is very personal. You spend a lot of time curating it. We want to make Timeline a place you’re proud to call your home. It’s a completely new aesthetic for Facebook. It gives you the ability to curate all your stories so you can express who you really are.”
The Timeline will enable users including Internet Marketers or Search Engine Optimisation Experts to post about “stories,” — that can be starred or hidden, and with an inline privacy controls to control exactly who sees what — rather than relying completely on chronology for all shared content and Facebook activity.
Moreover, apps will be able to hook into the Timeline as well, sharing things that you like to do on your personal page.
Timeline is completely customizable and mobile-friendly and is available now for Facebook developers and will be rolling out to users in the next few weeks.
