September 22, 2011 – Social networking giant Facebook has rolled out a major overhaul on its Profile Design.
The Facebook f8 conference is a yearly Facebook developer conference held by Facebook and takes place in San Francisco, California where developers and entrepreneurs collaborate on the future of personalized and social technologies. Its mission is to bring together the developers and entrepreneurs who are building the social web. It is known for being the place where Facebook introduces new features and announcements to the public for the first time.
During this year’s f8 conference, Facebook has made a slew of changes and updates that is supposedly optimized users’ experience on Facebook.
In fact one of these changes is a major redesign of Facebook’s profile pages.
According to several developers of popular applications for the site, Facebook’s major redesign of its core member profile pages is risky — as Facebook alters the user interface significantly and may limit the visibility of their applications, affecting their ability to build a user base — but a necessary move for one of the world’s largest online social network.
Profile Design Changes
Facebook’s redesign aims to retain the layout’s orderly and clean look where there is a redistribution of profile content into different tabs, so that users can better organize components such as the activity feed, photos, personal information and applications.
Moreover, the activity feed tab now includes a new authoring control panel called the Publisher Box for creating and posting content as well as a new horizontal navigation line with drop-down menus for its core features is found at the top of the new profile page.
The brand page designs and interface is now in sync with the personal user profiles where tabs are accessible under the user’s profile photo.
