September 13, 2011 – Facebook’s counter-solution to Google+ Circles is here!
Facebook,, social media networking giant, has started to roll out its answer to Google+ Circles with its latest Friend Lists feature, the Smart Lists.
Facebook has just recently introduced its Smart Lists feature, an auto-intelligent grouping tool that automatically groups friends into three categories of grouping namely: coworkers (people you work with), school buddies (people you attended school with) and people who live within 50 miles of you.
Moreover, users including Search Engine Optimization Experts are now able to customize messages and status updates to folks on a particular list; thus, avoiding the hassle of picking through your entire friends list or blasting party invites to people living on the opposite side of the planet.
Now, with this latest Friend Lists filters, it is now much easier to see a selected set of friend’s updates in one place and share exclusive contents with them.
This latest Friend Lists filter is similarly much like Google+ Circles where you can post updates or share things for certain groups of people instead of blasting your entire network of friends with information that only applies to small segment of your friends.
Furthermore, if you don’t like this new feature, don’t worry the manual Friend Lists is not going anywhere and still can be used. Facebook users will still be able to create their own contact groups, labeling them things like “Family,” or “BFF” and selecting what information is or isn’t sent their way. There is also a renewed focus on Friend Lists, with more explanation from Facebook on how best to construct your own lists with wordings very similar to how Google+ describes Circles.
