January 27, 2012 – Facebook Timeline will soon be mandatory for everyone!
Last December, Facebook has unrolled its Timeline view for profiles, which divided users. Since then, only a few users voluntarily switched to Timeline as Facebook hadn’t made that mandatory. Now, social media giant Facebook has set a deadline for all users to adopt a timeline.
Facebook is soon to make Timeline mandatory, requiring Facebook users to switch to a new Timeline profile, making their photos, links, and status updates from the past much easier to find.
Basically, Timeline is essentially a scrapbook of your whole life on Facebook, which will ultimately display your profile information in a more visual way, with increased prominence given to photos, movies, and just about anything posted to a wall. Once activated, Timeline replaces the current profile.
Starting Tuesday, January 31 in the US, Facebook is telling their users that over the next few weeks, everyone will get Timeline. Once Facebook users get Timeline, they will have only seven days to preview what’s there now and add or hide whatever content users don’t want out in the open.
For those who decided to wait, their Timeline will go live automatically after seven days, although the new timeline will replace their profile, but all their stories and photos will still be there.
With the mandatory integration of Timeline, users as well as professional SEOs and other social media marketers, have now an increased ability to broadcast their lives – including any activity with brands, businesses, applications, and services to all of their “friends”.
