December 21, 2011 - Attention Australian search engine optimization experts!
After months of waiting, Facebook Timeline is now officially available in Australia!
Facebook’s millions of Australian users can now access the site’s Timeline feature which offers a new way of presenting your Facebook profile to the world, displaying a virtual chronological scrapbook of your life through big images, memorable posts, and life events.
Rolled out first in New Zealand, Facebook Timeline has just recently rolled out in Australia this week. Now, Timeline is accessible to Australians. Aussie Facebook users can now digitally document their entire life, from birth until the present, through wall posts, uploaded photos, announcements, status updates, and events.
TIMELINE Features
The newly upgraded Facebook feature now displays news, status updates, uploaded photos, and events set out in blocks pointing to a point on a vertical line which is essentially your life, with the bottom being when you were born and the top being where you currently are.
Another striking new feature in this latest profile upgrade is the cover photo which takes up a large portion of the page and that enables you to post an image that “represents you best”. And next to it is a timeline that falls down the right of the page, where you and your visitors can browse through the years and months of your life quickly.
A map feature is also present which can provide you a glimpse of the places you’ve been to.
Favorite moments of your life can be highlighted with a star added to them. You can also add more information and events about your life that Facebook doesn’t have.
Moreover, Timeline also displays a landscape “cover” image that runs along the top of your profile page. Thru this, you can customize your Timeline by uploading a new image or adding an existing one. Just take note that the image must be at least 750 pixels wide.
Users can also hide posts from their friends. The Activity Log offers a rundown of everything users do on Facebook. It is completely private and can be located by clicking the “Activity Log” button in the top right hand corner of your profile page.
You can also find out how your followers see you. Just select “View as” from the drop down at the top of your profile page, then enter the name of a friend or click the “Public” link to see how your page looks to everyone else on Facebook.
Another feature is once you add a friend or subscribe to someone’s updates, Facebook will automatically set the level of posts you can view to “Most updates”.
SEO Takeaway
The new Timeline is a great way for SEO Company experts to showcase the websites they are handling in a more attractive and interesting way. Their search engine optimization services could include updating the company’s Facebook profiles with the new Timeline feature in order to showcase the company and the website attractively to potential users.
