For the past weeks since its launch, search engine optimization company(s) and webmasters were observed dropping the Google Plus One button for the button was slowing down their site.
Just recently, after all the hard work that Google had done to improve +1 button load time, Google has proudly announced that they have now speeded up the Google +1 button for websites.
Google has now rolled out two updates that made both the +1 button and the page loading faster.
Now, the +1 button is said to will automatically render up to 3 times faster on websites as well as there is no need for webmasters to update their code for the speed changes to take affect for the update is automatic.
Google said, “No action is required on your part, so just sit back, relax, and watch as the button loads more quickly than before.”
Furthermore, if you have already implemented the newly improved +1 button and you feel that it is not fast enough for you, you can switch the code to the asynchronous code version.
A faster new asynchronous snippet was also rolled out by Google. This new asynchronous snippet will make the +1 experience even faster by allowing your web site to continue loading while your browser downloads the +1 JavaScript. By loading these elements in parallel, Google is making certain the HTTP request to get the +1 button JavaScript doesn’t lead to an increase in your page load time.
Google +1 users who have already implemented the button will need to update the code to the new async snippet in order to see an overall improvement in their page load time.
For those who want to generate the new async snippet, you can use Google’s +1 Configuration Tool. Make sure that the asynchronous option is the default, if you are not certain, you can check by selecting “advanced options.
