A report from comScore Video Matrix today indicated that a total of 175 million U.S. Internet users viewed online video content in September with an average of 14.4 hours per viewer. In the whole month, the total U.S. Internet audience was reported to have engaged in over 5.2 billion viewing.
YouTube, one of the Google Sites has been recorded to have ranked as the top online video content property with a staggering 144.2 million viewers. However, the question remains as to who is going to take the number 2 spot.
As indicated by the results, Yahoo! Sites, which garnered 54.4 million viewers, placed 2nd after capturing it from Facebook. Microsoft Sites made it to the 4th spot in September after making a big three-spot leap from its previous position.
In September, Americans were recorded to have viewed over 4.3 billion video ads and Hulu was able to generate 794 video ad impressions from the total, securely putting it to the top spot. Tremor Media Video Network was close behind on the second spot with a total of 526 million video ad impressions. It was also ranked as the highest among the video ad networks. BrightRoll Video Network came in at the third spot with 476 million while ADAP.TV ranked fourth with its 444 million ad views.
45 percent of the total US population was reached by the video ads with an average of 32 times in the course of the month. Hulu was recorded to have delivered the highest frequency of video ads to its viewers reaching an average of 27.5 during the month.
Results also indicated that ScanScout ranked first in terms of their potential reach of the total U.S. population with an average of 46.8 percent. BrigthRoll Video Network is next with 44.5 percent and Break Media coming in at third with 44.1 percent.
It was also found out that 83.9 percent of the total U.S. Internet user watched online video, that average online content videos usually last up to 4.9 minutes and the average online video ad is only 0.4 minutes, and that video ads accumulated 12.3 percent of the total videos viewed and 1.2 percent of all the minutes were psnt viewing video online.
