August 24, 2011 – As Google users visit its search engine home page, they will see a wide architecture scenery with an old man standing in front of it. Google features this architecture-style Google Doodle to celebrate the 112th birthday of Jorge Luis Borges, a famous Argentinian Writer and a great contributor to the genre of Science Fiction.
Jorge Borges is best known for his innovative style of interconnected short stories and one of the main contributors to modern day science fiction. One of its famous short stories, “The Garden of Forking Paths” which conceptualized a massive branching structure as a better way to organize data for what we know today as “World Wide Web” is cited to be the inspiration for today’s Google Doodle.
The latest Google Doodle is composed of Borges’ work, designed with different architecture and buildings interconnected to form the outline traditional Google logo, composed of a carved wall forming a G, a Tomb representation forming an O, the other O forming an entrance to a city, another entrance forming a G, a man standing (himself) forming an L, and a wall on the extreme right side forming an E.
